Hydrocodone is an opioid and semi-synthetic drug. It is highly beneficial for the treatment of moderate to severe pain. Also, it is a potent ingredient in several narcotic medicines, such as Norco, Lortab, and Vicodin. Even so, experts prescribe extended-release of this drug when required. However, it is labeled as a prescription drug by the FDA.

Like other opioids, Oxycodone works inside the central nervous system. It binds to the brain receptors that transmit pain signals to the mind. Thus, it helps in reducing pain and enabling you to feel calm.

Hydrocodone dosing information

Hydrocodone could be a habit-forming at higher or off label doses. So, follow your doctor’s instructions that are available at your prescription label. Furthermore, never use Oxycodone in higher doses or more than prescribed. Doing so may increase the risks of addiction and overdose.

Your dose of Hydrocodone might be different if you have recently used some other opioids. However, the doses of this drug depend on the condition of the patient. The most standard dose is Hydrocodone 5/325 mg two times a day.

Safety measures to prevent side effects

While taking Oxycodone, it is crucial to know and follow precautions. First and foremost, do not crush or break an extended-release tablet. Swallow it whole to avoid potentially a fatal dose. Furthermore, never mash Hydrocodone to inhale or mix it into a liquid to inject. Doing so may cause life-threatening side effects.

Moreover, do not suddenly stop taking Hydrocodone after prolonged use. If you do so, you may undergo severe withdrawal symptoms, such as extreme confusion. Avoid sharing and giving away your pills to anyone. Sharing of Hydrocodone is illegal and against the Federal law.

Like other drugs, Hydrocodone may also have numerous side effects when not used correctly. These side effects might be mild but may become severe over time. However, drug reactions are possible even at prescribed doses.

  • nausea
  • fever
  • dizziness
